回覆刪除Ok, back to the main topic. I seldom go to theaters. Actually, the latest time I went to a movie is in spring break. During the period of spring vacation, my family and I went to Hsimending(西門町) to see Avatar and Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. (波西傑克森: 神火之賊)As far as I am concerned, Avatar is really worthy of watching in 3D mode. But there, I do not want to talk too much about Avatar since almost everyone knows it. If I still talk about it, maybe it will be cliché. As a result, I would like to share my opinions about Percy Jackson.
Percy Jackson is adapted from Richard Russell’s novel. In my opinion, Percy Jackson is a bit like Harry Potter. In fact, the director of Percy Jackson is Harry potter’s director in the first and the second episode. Percy Jackson is the hero in the film. He is the mixed blood son of Poseidon, the god of sea. However, due to his identity, Zues doubts that he is the lightning thief. (Lightning is Zues’ weapon.) In order to prove Percy’s innocence and save his mom, Percy and his friend (Grover, the satyr, and Annabeth, the mixed blood daughter of Athena) start their journey to find the lightning.
I admire the author’s creativity to combine the modern elements with Greek mythology. Although I have not taken the Greek mythology class, I smiled knowingly when seeing Medusa’s sunglasses. (Sorry, I reveal some plots.) Besides, I feel interested that the author sets Olympian mountain in the Empire State. Also, the refrigerator in the ending is funny. (If you had seen the movie, you will know what I am talking about.) If the full mark is five stars, I will give the movie three. Except for some amusing and creative parts in the movie, the storylines are too simple. The audience can guess what will happen next while watching. Maybe the novel will give readers the different ideas from the movie. If I have time, perhaps I will check it out.

As I mentioned above, the legend of 1900 is my favorite movie. I like it not because the movie stars in the movie but because the plot and philosophy in the movie are extraordinary. I think that most of people may feel astonished when seeing the ending. Actually, the last scene of 1900 had haunted me for several days after watching.
回覆刪除1900 is a talented pianist on the ship. He is an orphan and is raised by a sailor from childhood. Due to his family background, he never leaves the ship in his life time. “Land is a ship too big for me. It's a woman too beautiful; it's a voyage too long, a perfume too strong. I don't know how to make.” As a result, he chooses a special way to live and leave (the world) eventually.
The music in the film is enchanting (so does 1900.) For me, the most impressive scene is the contest between Jelly and 1900. Although I know that the audience’s reactions toward 1900’s piano skill are acting, I could not restrain my excitement at all. But, the piano competition is not my favorite scene. My favorite scene in the movie is that 1900 plays the piano without fixing. Contrary to the tempest outside, 1900 plays and sways with the piano with delight. On seeing and listening his performance, I am enjoying the comfortable atmosphere, too. To sum up, I really want to live like him.
The last time I went to a theater was about 3 to 4 weeks ago and I watched the hot movie “Iron Man 2”. At first I was not interesting in the series of Iron Man, although my brother regards it as one of the best superhero movies. I did not feel very exciting when Iron Man 2 was going on the screen; however, after I watch the first episode, I was shocked by the creativity and the highly developmental technology that Iron Man used in the movie; thus, I went to watch the second episode. It seems that there are going to be a third episode in the future, I guess I would also like to watch the whole series as long as it has good filming skills and interesting plots.
回覆刪除I love to watch movies; and the genres that I’m interesting in are almost every types of movie, except some bloody and disgusting killing film, like the series of Saw or The Destination. I would not be willing to watch those bloody movies unless someone asks me to watch them with him or her. The same situation would happen when they are horror movies. Because my friend likes to watch disgusting and horrible movies, sometimes I need to go to the theater and watch those movies. That‘s really a torture for me; during the whole process, I was very nervous and it’s hard for me to release, after watching, I would feel exhausted (since I need to cover my ears most of the time, I don’t close my eyes otherwise it would be a waste that being in the theater) and wonder why I went to here to pay for a torture.
My favorite movie is always changing, and I believe there are tons of movies that are still waiting for me to watch them. Like yesterday, I watched a movie called “Gran Torino”, although I only watched it for about 30 minutes, I found out that this movie is really a touching and meaningful one. I did not have time to finish this movie thus I went online to find the summary, and after I read the summary, I cried out loud (this behavior had frighten my brother, who was sitting next to me). At that moment, I felt my heart was crumble. I don’t know whether you guys have watched this movie or not, but I strongly recommend you to watch it, I believe you would have deep feeling toward the plots.

回覆刪除I do not reject horror movie at all but I am not a thriller lover, too. I feel sympathy for you to watch a horror movie reluctantly. Maybe you should learn to give rejections to others tactfully. Like you, I have no special preference toward certain kind of film. No matter what sort of movie (Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, or Thailand,) I go to a theater as long as a film interests me. In addition, I search some information about Gran Torino(經典老爺車.) It somewhat attracts me. Perhaps I can see it in summer vacation.

回覆刪除The director of Gran Torino is Clint Eastwood, who is also the main leading male role in this movie. At first I was fascinating by his acting which was very natural and close to the character. He plays an old Korean War veteran who just lost his wife and had a difficulty to fit in his child’s family and also his community which is full of Miao people and other immigrants. He has strong racial discrimination toward those people; however he is in the period when the United States became to accept many different racial immigrants from other countries. But gradually, he has moved by Miao people’s hospitality and became close with one of the young Miao boys. Later on, there are some bad things happen in the community and also the Miao boy.
I think the movie is focus on the old man’s change and his wish of atonement. And I like the process that he was changed by the interaction with other people, which shows a strong compare with his past memory. Ok, I’ll stop here since it would be better that you guys watch it by yourself and to feel the touched movement.
I have watched Percy Jackson as well; however I didn’t go to the theater to watch it. I agree with Tina’s opinion, this movie is creative in some way. It combines the modern elements into the Greek mythology, and sometimes the combination is humorous like the one Tina had mentioned. I watched this movie after I watched the “Clash of the Titans”, which is similar with Percy Jackson, both of this two is talking about Greek mythology. Maybe you could watch this one in summer vacation as well.
Watching movie is a very good way of escaping from the reality. I’ve decided to watch as much movies as I could in the summer vacation, including the TV programs.
The last time I went to movie theater is about three months ago. The movie I watched is The Lovely Bones. I went to watch this movie because it is based on a popular novel and many friends and classmates told me that the novel is great. Therefore, I decided to take a chance that the movie may not be so bad. As my expectation, the movie was not very bad but not great either. I believe that the novel will be much better than the movie. There are a lot of things that we can not feel by vision. Through reading the words, we can tell something between the lines.
回覆刪除My favorite movie is The Holiday. It is a story about two women exchanges their houses and their life is changed also. Alice who lives in London is a woman who still loves her ex-boyfriend deeply. However her ex-boyfriend is going to marry someone else. She is terribly sad and even thinks of suicide. On the other side of London is California where Amada lives; Amada has a big fight with her boyfriend. She is exhausted and wants to have a vacation. Then the story begins. Amada finds Alice’s house on the house exchanging website. They both want to leave the places where they live right now. They go to the house of each other immediately. In the new place, they both make new friends and learn some new sights of their lives. I love this movie because every time when I finish this movie, I feel hopeful. There is nothing special about the plot. The other reason that makes me crazy about this movie is the music. I bought the music album of this music. The background music of this movie is produced by Hans Zimmer who is famous for producing background music of movies.
To sum up, I love The Holiday greatly and I can watch it about hundreds of times.
Speaking of Asian movies and Hollywood movies, I prefer Hollywood if I really have to make a choice between them. Frankly speaking, Hollywood movies are popular but few of them have profound stories. Most people including me watch Hollywood is just for entertainment. The producers of Hollywood know what audiences want and the movies they produce always become big hits. As for Asian movies, I seldom watch Asian movie in the past. In the recent one or two years, I found that there are some good movies made by Taiwanese directors, such as Tears. There are a lot of movies made in Taiwan are concerning about the true lives of people in Taiwan. Through watching these movies, I can learn more things about the land I live in and can put more emphasis on the problems regarding my country. Therefore, I am willing to watch more movies made in Taiwan instead of Hollywood movies.
