I want to be a successful student, so I do not want to leave any bad record during my four years in university. If someone laughs at me for never skipping classes, I will say that I want to be special. I believe that never skipping classes during the whole four years in university will be a mission impossible. I want to take this as a challenge. I want to be special. I heard a lot of people said that university equals playing four years. Well, I do not want to be the one who only play and learn little thing during four years. I want to be active and I want to experience many things that I never have. I also want to learn to think independently. It doesn’t mean not to be influenced by others but to learn to tell what is right and what is wrong. I will always notice the latest news around the world in order to connect with this world and broaden my horizon. I will try my best to achieve this goal. Can you feel my determination?
Skipping classes is a usual phenomenon among the university students. Almost every college student has the experiences of skipping classes. However, there are still some people who never skip any classes in their college lives. Those people definitely can be named as “successful college students,” like what you write previously in your blog.
回覆刪除I really agree with what you write. I think that we all have our own values and principles. What’s more, we would not change our own values and principles no matter what kinds of situation we are in. As a consequence, similarly, I would say, “I go to class because of the knowledge I want to know for my future work, not just because of the credits.” To get the knowledge for my future work, I would go to every class I take on time, and do my best to understand the things the teachers teach. Also, I would complete every assignment on time.
Thus, when someone laughs me about my never skipping classes, I would also simply say, “after four years of school lives, we can see skipping classes is good or bad from what we have,” because I think that those who never skip the classes must be superior to those who skip the classes in some way. The knowledge they have must be much more than those who skip the classes. Moreover, they must be more responsible for themselves.
On the contrary, I might just simply reply, “I just want to be responsible for my own decision. College students have much freedom. They can choose what they want to wear, what to eat every day, which department to major in, even which class to take. Therefore, we all have to be responsible for our own choices. Since we make the decision by our own, we should try our best to fulfill our choices and perform well in the classes so that we can be named as “successful college students.”
I agree with what you said previously, but after being a college student for two months, I have failed to keep my promise that I will not skip a class. After thinking for a long time, I think there are two circumstances that will make me skip a class. The first situation is that when I am too busy. Because I had to practice cheerleading and a lot of homework and studying to do, I chose to skip a class few weeks ago. I did not feel regretful for my decision, instead, I feel depressed about my disability to manage my time well. I think that skip a class in order to do homework is not proper. It may become a bad habit in the future and the vicious circulation will keep going on. The other situation is skipping a class in order to participate in the activities hold by school. The activities that I talk about are like a celebrity go to my school to give a speech. I think it is a good chance to see the celebrities and listen to their speeches. Because I can catch up my study afterward, I think taking part in meaningful activities is more valuable than going to a class. After all, I can not see celebrities all the time.
回覆刪除I think that taking part in the activities is also important. However, it is really important to balance between school work and activities.
